It seems as though shopping madness is every where this year despite the slump in economy but who can blame them. I feel myself going a little crazy with excitement when I saw the sales and discounts that I could get this holiday season from rubyimports. In the past, I have had people come up to me and ask me why I was so fanatical about costume jewelry and how could I possibly wear wear them all. Trust me, my collection can easily fill up three large trunks. It is all about the passion and fascination with how beautiful and intricate all of them are so, if you asked me if it was a necessity or a waste of money, I would say it is neither.

It is about passion.

Being a jewelry designer, I am always on the lookout for new ways to make things beautiful. I am always inspired by the little-little things in life that could mean so little to others and yet, to me, if I brought such details to the designs that I make, it could stand out. And then people will start to take notice of such elements.

One good example would be this...the color of autumn leaves. Dead, crunching leaves that most of us ignore. Something that happens every year, anyway, and so it is no big deal. But it is one of the most amazing things in this world! The explosion of colors, the wonderful smell of dried leaves, the beauty of the vibrant colors against the backdrop of the setting sun...people walk in their haste to their destinations without truly seeing it all.

Using the brown, yellow, orange theme, I have created a best-selling earring and necklace set for myself! The feeling, however, goes deeper than that. The simple things in life are the ones that inspire us the most. Poetry, writing, pictures...they can paint a beautiful picture in the minds of everyone. But with jewelry, it aims to motivate and help us see beauty in the most insignificant things in life.

Well, they are insignificant if you don't take notice of it.

So, for the things seem so simple in the rushed realm of everyday living, can you see now, the passion for beauty that fuels my days? Of why I base my passion in costume jewelry? Of why I dedicate my life to my collection? Well, that is a bit of an exaggeration but it pretty much boils down to beauty...such a simple thing with wide reach, limitless potential and exhilarating freedom.

 

There is a very good reason why a marketer would say that there are only two industries in this world that guarantees you a clean profit if you do it well.

One, the baby's industry. Anything related to babys, toddlers, education and toys, you are sure to sell some to make a nice income. Two, the women's industry. Really....the thing with women is this we can resist the biggest buffet of our lives and yet, we can't resist something cute, will make us look pretty or cute or is in limited edition. I guess that it why I am in the ladies accessories industry.

For one, I love them. Two, I love to sell them. Three, all my customers love them! The look of delight that passes on their faces is so exhilarating to see that it rivals the 'ka-ching' sound of my cash register. Well, the virtual one, anyway, because I don't have a real store. I sell all my ladies accessories through my friends, blog and also a personal website.

Other things, apart from ladies accessories is the makeup and cosmetics industry. Tell a woman that she can have crystal clear skin within three weeks of using this magical lotion, and you have her like putty in your hands. The sale is doubly fast when you have a good testimonial better if there is a 'before' and 'after' proof. But there is just one little skirmish thing about being in the cosmetics and skincare industry, reliability. Since we are not rich enough to keep piles of stock from the said companies (think L'oreal, Nivea, Revlon, etc), we have to resort to selling products that are slightly cheaper...which sometimes translates into 'shady' or 'questionable quality'.

When dealing with someone's looks, it is touchy. I know I would give it my best shot at suing the manufacturer if someone sold me products of questionable quality.

Therefore, I am in the ladies accessories industry. Which is fun, exciting and so much more fast-paced. I love finding new designs every now and then, as opposed to other industries because it is, then, that I get to show it off to my friends.

Suffice to say, after starting my business selling ladies accessories, I have made so many more new friends in the cyber world. It is like I have a home where I live and connect with my family, and then my real friends in the real world...and then my cyber friends/supporters/customers.

I'm just glad I did this. :-)
